John Knab of Loda has owned this car just two weeks and entering it in the car show of Harvest Daze was its second showing. This is a 1946 DeSoto Suburban and is like the car Howard Cunningham drove on the “Happy Days” television series. The car features “suicide doors,” has three rows of seats, still has its wooden plank trunk area, and its electric gas cap is one of the few options offered with this model.

Miss Iroquois County Fair Queen Jahni Lavicka, Milford, toured the Old Courthouse Museum grounds on Saturday during Harvest Daze. She enjoyed meeting visitors and having photos taken with them.

This was the third year Twisted Stone Boutique participated in Harvest Daze. Shown are Karissa Ausier (left) and Peter Garcia, both of Watseka. The booth featured a variety of handmade jewelry.
Kinzie Smith set up her Kinzie’s Kreations booth during Harvest Daze on the grounds of the Old Courthouse Museum. She was one of 60 vendors who took part in the weekend-long event. Kinzie (left) was assisted at her booth by David Barwegen. Her booth featured a wide selection of handcrafted jewelry and crafts. Smith and Barwegen are sophomores at Watseka Community High School.
This was Gayla Taden’s first year to set up a booth during Harvest Daze. The Sheldon resident was offering a full line of unique items such as tumblers, pens, key chains and more.
Jim Baron of Bradley owns this 1974 Chevy Corvette. He had been looking for a classic car to restore and he found this one in Aroma Park. The color is called “Corvette Gray,” and it was only used in 1974, with about 300 cars being painted this color. The car’s original owners purchased the vehicle from Dralle in Peotone.
Billie Conrad (left), of Sheldon, stands by his 1954 Massey-Harris “33,” which he has shown in many tractor shows throughout the years. At right is Mike Buhrmester of Watseka who stands with his Massey-Harris tractors. Both men were participants of the antique tractor show during Sunday of Harvest Daze. Harvest Daze is the major fundraiser of the Iroquois County Historical Society which uses the funds its raises to keep the Old Courthouse Museum open to the public.

In the back are (left to right): Lili Sorensen, a junior at Watseka Community High School; Josh Hansen, of Danforth, and Kaylee Schilling of Watseka. Sorensen was volunteering in Kidz Zone as part of community service for Make A Difference Day.
Three-year-old Lilly Emerson, Danforth, was enjoying the various photo ops in the Kidz Zone of Harvest Daze. In addition to having her photograph taken for the newspaper, her grandmother, Lynne Culkin, also of Danforth, was taking pictures and recording memories.
Scarlett Siebert (left), 12, of Watseka, is shown painting the face of Owen Thomas, 3, also of Watseka. Scarlett is a lifetime member of Iroquois County Historical Society and has volunteered many times at Harvest Daze and other ICHS events.
This is a 1971 Chevy Corvette Stingray Convertible owned by Darrel Bruck of Bourbonnais, formerly of Momence. He has owned the car 12-1/2 years. This Stingray was built in August 1970 and was No. 323 of 21,801 manufactured that year.
Gene Miller of Momence stands beside his 1966 Corsa. He’s had the car about five years and it’s been roadworthy about 2-1/2 to 3 years. He noted when he got the car it was “basically brought home in a basket.” His was one of several cars which took part in the Saturday car show of Harvest Daze.
This 1964 Chevy Impala SS is owned by Roger Dunki of Kankakee. He has had the car 20 years. It was noted Roger and his brother, Lonnie Heimber of Chebanse, rebuilt the engine together but not until Lonnie had rebuilt his engine first.
